From the exhibition "UNWINNABLE"
A thousand hand-cut pinewood blocks, platform.
40 x 48 x 96 cm
For this artwork, I searched for words with empty meanings such as cool, nice, fine... I later recreated them into a tridimensional object using wooden blocks. The arrangement of the blocks can be easily adjusted, giving each word the potential to transform into a different one.
The artwork reflects on the capacity of written language to be both: malleable and rigid at the same time. It explores the language capability to constantly evolve, adopting new shapes, and mediating in humans relationships. This is particularly notorious in times of crisis when the personal values and mental strength get tested.
